VJF 3.2 Berlin Renovation

During this camp, we’ll take care of different renovation tasks, like painting walls and fixing up small things indoors and outdoors. Since a lot of our work will be outside, it’s essential for everyone to come prepared with waterproof clothing to handle any bad weather that comes our way. The centre needs some renovation work to be done. You will need waterproof clothes in case of bad weather, as you will be mainly working outside. We also plan to work on the riverbank to remove ivy and dead wood. And extra task would be the work on the herbal garden.

You will live in heated bungalows in the Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte of VJF. In the bungalows you will find your own bathroom with a shower and WC. You will get bed linen, there is no need to bring a sleeping bag with you. You will have the chance to prepare your own meals in a small kitchen at the centre.

The participants are responsible for their own catering. You will buy food and prepare the meals yourself in a small kitchen. If our cook has time – he will help. Please bring recipes and special ingredients such as spices from your home country for some culinary exchange! Vegan and vegetraian food will, of course, be possible.

You are accommodated in the „Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte“ of the Association of Young Volunteers. The small bungalow village is situated in a forest on the banks of the lake Langer See in Berlin. It’s a quiet place, one hour away from central places in Berlin as Alexanderplatz (but there are good public transport connections). The project centre is used as accommodation for different groups of young people and as a holiday resort for school classes.

This will be decided in the group. You can use the facilities at our project centre to play sports (volleyball, table tennis, the lake). Of course, you will be able to enjoy the sights and culture (theatres, clubs…) of Berlin and go for an excursion to towns nearby like Potsdam or Oranienburg. Please keep in mind that the center is on the on outskirts of the capital.

You can also bring games, instruments or specialties from your home country.
